Overview

Below are some expectations that we have of our coaches, please read through these items prior to filling out a coaching application:

  • Be prepared to spend 10-15 hours or more devoted to coaching per week
  • We expect you to hold 1-2 practices a week and the length of those practices be an hour and a half  to two hours long
  • There will be 2 games per week which are 90 minutes each from start to finish, depending on the season it will be 1 weeknight and 1 Saturday (Spring) or both games on Saturday (Fall).
  • If you are the home team for your game you are expected to arrive early enough to prep the field prior to the start of the game this includes things like: dragging the field, raking, putting in bases, and chalking the lines (you will be taught how if you don't know)
  • If you are the away team for your game and you are at Midway and you are the last game of the day, you are expected to put the field to bed this includes things like: dragging the field, raking, putting bases away, and making sure dugouts are clean (you will be taught how if you don't know)
  • You are expected to pick up all trash and belongings every time you leave the field whether that is after a game or practice.
  • You are expected to plan and run drills for player development at your practice (we have drill layouts if you need some ideas and clinics available for you to attend).
  • Communication is huge! You are expected to communicate with your team in a timely manner. You are also expected to respond and communicate to your division directors regularly!
  • Respect is even bigger! When in communication with parents and board members you are expected to be respectful and kind in your tone as you also should expect the same in return from us, we won't tolerate anything less from either party.
  • You will be given an equipment bag with items such as bats, helmets, protective masks, catcher's gear, and practice balls.
  • We don't make any promises but will do our best to get your preference on practice days when doing field allocations.
  • You are expected to read all the softball rules specific to your division and defer to your division director with any questions or concerns.
  • You are expected to attend player assessments, draft, coaches' meetings, and other events as directed and exceptions can be made only when communicated to your director.
  • All coaches' applications will be pending board voted approval every season, if you proceed to apply to coach, you are not guaranteed a coaching position. Your division director will be in contact with you.
